Grizzly Bear – Veckatimest

Another darling of the music blogs of last year, this has recently gained a little bit of mainstream exposure due to the use of the song Two Weeks in a car ad. The album feels like a jazzy version of Bon Iver’s For Emma, Forever Ago. Having heard Two Weeks I was a little thrown by the rest of the album; I was expecting something lightweight and full of sunshine but that’s not really the case. Now that’s not to say that the album isn’t good because it is, very good in fact but it’s a more subdued affair and something worth listening to carefully, probably on your headphones. This is warm homely music, simple and affecting. 8/10
